NYPL’s online application process did not allow parents to acquire cards for their children. That required parents to be at a branch in person. Help desk requests for an online alternative for children were piling up, so I imagined and implemented a quick COPPA-compliant solution that could live in SimplyE’s card creator.

Note that the voice of NYPL is professional and pragmatic, which led to the copy being aligned with our site’s legalese. Our feedback is still positive for this tool, and we aim to expand its reach.
